Established in 2002 with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People’s government, Chengdu Agricultural College (CAC) was the first vocational college sponsored by the Chengdu Municipal People’s Government. The college originated from the Sichuan Wenjiang Agricultural School, a national key vocational school founded in 1958. As the only government-funded agricultural vocational college in Sichuan Province, China, CAC has been recognized as a National Top-quality Vocational College by the Ministry of Education and a National Top-quality College for Rural Revitalization Talent Training Programme by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Additionally, it has been listed among the High-level Vocational College & Specialty Construction Plan (Double High-Levels).
CAC currently has two campuses, Liucheng Campus and Haike Campus, both located in the Wenjiang District of Chengdu City, a part of the International Garden City. The college covers an area of 447 mu (29.8ha) and has two off-campus practice areas, the Chongzhou Modern Agricultural Innovation and Entrepreneurship Demonstration Park and the Pengzhou Gexianshan Production-Education Integration Park, covering an area of more than 1,000 mu (67 ha). CAC has a staff of 671, including 420 with doctoral or master's degrees and 208 with senior technical titles such as professor and associate professor. Based on the construction of the modern agricultural industry system, CAC has eight secondary colleges and offers 43 majors. It admits more than 4,500 ordinary vocational diploma students annually and currently has over 13,000 full-time students. Up to now, the school has recruited more than 80 international students from countries such as Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
